SLEEPY HOLLOW’: FOUR BURNING QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Sleepyheads, I adore you and all your questions. And I promise there’s much more from my chat with executive producer Alex Kurtzman coming. Look for some great stuff Monday and in an upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly. For now, here are four of the questions you sent me via Twitter, answered!

After the introduction of Capt. Irving’s family & the announcement of Ichabod’s father, will there be more family members added? – SHollowSource
      Spoiler anzeigen
Well, as you pointed out, Ichabod’s dad is on the way and will be played by Victor Garber. Beyond that, though, Kurtzman said they “very well might” explore bringing in Abbie’s father next season. “There’s definitely a story to be had there and a deep and impactful one for Abbie and Jenny. So it’s entirely possibly that we will,” he says.

I loved Tom Mison’s brilliant sword fighting scenes. Will we see a lot more of him fighting in future episodes/season 2? — @savvyanna10
      Spoiler anzeigen
The upcoming season finale is “massive,” according to Kurtzman. And he means that in more ways than one. “What we love about it is that it’s massive both emotionally and size and scope,” he says. “I think one of the things we’ve always felt is that one of the first questions we always ask when breaking an episode is what is the story about emotionally? It’s not what’s the monster of the week. It’s what’s going on with our characters.”
      Source:EW

Will we learn what happened to Baby Crane? At least his name? Thank you! — @Dionysius1
      Spoiler anzeigen
Yes. You’ll find out what happened to his son in the next episode. The next episode is going to be about Ichabod finding out what happened to him.
      Source:EW

Anything about Abbie’s storyline in particular we can look forward to? — @shiftingnewton
      Spoiler anzeigen
We’re going to learn some more details about her family AND answer some major questions about Abbie and Jenny’s encounter with Moloch. “One of the big things we’re going to start tackling is what they don’t remember about what happened to them in the forest that day,” teases Kurtzman. “They only remember seeing Moloch and then they blacked out and woke up by the side of the road and then don’t remember what happened. So the mystery of what happened to them is something we’re going to play out. And that may provide us with some answers for some of the bigger threats that are coming.” That’s right…BIGGER. No wonder they needed a two-hour finale.

*seufz*

What the hell?! I mean, normal people, they see a monster, and they run. But not us, no, no, no, we -- we search out things that want to kill us. Yeah? Huh?
Or eat us! You know who does that? Crazy people! We...are insane!
    • @SydneyB: es kommen ja noch 3 Folgen am (13.01. und am 20.01.2014 Doppelfolge). Danach geht's dann im Sept. 2014 wieder weiter.

*seufz*

    • Question: You told us that another horseman is coming to Sleepy Hollow, and I want to know which one it is. –Ann
      Spoiler anzeigen
Ausiello: When TVLine chatted with executive producer Roberto Orci and asked that very question, he replied, “This means war.” So… can he tell us which one it is? “I just did,” the sly series co-creator responded. (Maybe that’s what Moloch meant in last week’s episode when he warned, “When you know my meaning, war will take form”?)

      Spoiler anzeigen
Ancitif, a minion of Moloch with the ability to jump from body to body and possess its victims via physical contact, returns to Sleepy Hollow after a seven year absence and delivers a foreboding warning to Captain Irving: unless he delivers George Washington’s Bible – a valuable resource in the war against Moloch - great harm will befall his daughter, Macey. Unwilling to cede to the demon’s demand, Ichabod and Abbie search Sheriff Corbin’s archives for clues to defeat their latest adversary, and make a startling discovery about the identity of one of the demon’s past victims. Meanwhile, Captain Irving takes steps of his own to safeguard his family, but his precautions may prove to be in vain when the slippery demon manages to infiltrate the ranks of the Sleepy Hollow police department, and Jenny makes a revealing confession about her past that could strengthen her relationship with Abbie.

    • Sleepy Hollow - Episode 1.12 - The Indispensable Man - Synopsis
      Spoiler anzeigen
Deputy Andy Brooks, the undead and reluctant minion of Moloch, returns to Sleepy Hollow and once again professes his love for Abbie. As a token, he offers her shelter from the coming apocalypse and - upon her refusal - repeats a chilling warning about the betrayal she is fated to suffer at Ichabod’s hand. Meanwhile, Crane recalls his final meeting with General Washington and begins to make progress uncovering some of the Bible’s hidden secrets. He learns of the existence of a map written by Washington himself that could prove invaluable to Crane in his quest to rescue his wife Katrina. His ebullience is dampened by the fact that the same map is the very tool Moloch needs to facilitate his invasion of the waking world. With the help of Henry Parrish, Crane and Mills set off on a hunt to find the map, well aware of the consequences should they allow it to fall into enemy hands.
Meanwhile, Brooks, fueled by the rage of Abbie’s latest rebuke, recommits himself to his master Moloch and gets a makeover as his reward. And in the wake of recent events, Irving falls under scrutiny by his commander when he is unable to offer any explanation for the recent rash of killings, or for the death of one of his own detectives.

Sleepy Hollow - Episode 1.13 - Bad Blood (Season Finale) - Synopsis
      Spoiler anzeigen
Thirteen years to the day that young Abbie and Jenny Mills had their first encounter with the demon Moloch, Henry Parrish wakes from a fearful dream and delivers Ichabod and Abbie a dire warning: Moloch plans to unleash the second of the Four Horsemen – the Horseman of War – tonight. When Ichabod and Abbie learn that only a witch has the power to prevent War’s ascension, they decide their only option is to try and free Katrina from her prison in Purgatory... a task that will require them to walk willingly into Moloch’s stronghold. Meanwhile, Captain Irving knows that pending DNA tests will link his daughter, Macey, to the killings at the safe house. Unwilling to reveal the supernatural forces at play – that Macey’s body was possessed by a demon intent on bringing forth the apocalypse – he instead confesses to the killings himself. Irving is relieved of command and taken into custody, but not before discovering another valuable clue in Sheriff Corbin’s archive. And Jenny makes a startling discovery when she solves one of Moloch’s riddles, but it may be too late to prevent his plans from reaching fruition.

PREVIOUSLY ON... | Ichabod learned that Katrina birthed a son named Jeremy, whose supernatural powers threatened Katrina's coven so much the witches stopped his heart and buried him. Abbie found out that her ancestor assisted at Jeremy's birth. Some kind of malevolent being stalked Capt. Irving's daughter Macey. Moloch delivered a chilling message: He was going after Abbie's soul, and Ichabod would deliver it to him.

      | "We've always said, the devil doesn't win by coming into your room and murdering you. The devil wins by turning neighbor against neighbor," co-creator Roberto Orci says of the show's final Season 1 episodes. Along those lines, "The fear that exists is Sleepy Hollow is finally coming to a climax, and the question is: Will the town destroy itself?" Looks like Abbie and Ichabod will be busy, especially when secrets about Crane's lineage and ancestors are revealed. Orci won't say exactly what will happen, but hints, "Everyone's going to end up in a really difficult place." Meanwhile, when we meet Ichabod's father (played by Alias alum Victor Garber), we'll be privy to "clues… that he never knew were clues back then. You'll see that there were already things going on back in the day that will inform [Ichabod's] present." It all leads up to the drama's Jan. 20 season finale, which Orci vows is a must-see. "You bet your butt that we're going to corner ourselves into something juicy. Let's see how we get out of it next year."

RETURN DATE | Monday, Jan. 13 at 9/8c (Fox); double-episode season finale airs Jan. 20 at 8 pm.
    • Question: On Sleepy Hollow, I didn’t understand why Abbie and Ichabod automatically assumed that George Washington had written in his Bible after his death. Did I miss something? –Andy
      Spoiler anzeigen
Ausiello: TVLine put that exact question to Ichabod himself, Tom Mison, who had this answer: “This is Sleepy Hollow, and it’s in hidden ink, in Washington’s Bible that was buried with Ichabod. My spoiler is: Yes, something weird is going on.” (Now imagine that in Crane’s clipped accent, and you’ll feel exactly as stupid as we did when he schooled us.) BONUS SCOOP: Nicole Beharie describes the Jan. 20 Season 1 finale thusly: ” It’s clandestine… gory… surprising…. and passionate.” Word on the street is it also leaves viewers with a big question.

    • Do you have any final Sleepy Hollow teasers, maybe about the George Washington twist? –Gianna
      Spoiler anzeigen
I asked the gorgeous Nicole Beharie about the discovery that the premiere POTUS apparently lived beyond his official expiration date, and all she would say is that many characters “find themselves intimately involved, somehow, in the season finale” airing Monday. “They’re interconnected in a very complex way — and that includes George Washington. That reveal that he wrote this letter to Ichabod after he died? The finale is the culmination of them trying to figure out where he was and what it all means.”

*nein* *thumps* *umarm*
