"Falling Skies" is set to wrap up its first season next week with a two-hour finale. The first hour will focus on the 2nd Massachusetts who are divided by growing tension arising from their plans of an ambitious assault on an alien base which draws closer. Meanwhile, Tom has trouble coming to grips with Anne's profound discovery and its implications.
In the next one hour, the resistance fighters launch a bold attack against the aliens as Tom remains at the camp to protect the civilians. Twisting developments lead Tom to a close encounter of the harrowing kind.

Falling Skies' cast will be live tweeting during 2-hour season finale

Falling Skies will be airing its season finale Sunday, August 7th with "Mutiny" and "Eight Hours," and though there's plenty that needs wrapping up, the series will be returning for season 2 next summer, so a cliffhanger is more likely than not. Social networking sites have become very popular these days, and Falling Skies will be using one during the finale.

Many celebrities tweet, and the cast of Falling Skies is no different. In fact, some of the cast and crew will be tweeting during the two episodes airing on Sunday, including one who doesn't have a Twitter:

      "Live Chat Sun 9PM ET Participants inc: @MarkVerheiden @sanguin_carter @drew_roy @CunninghamColin & Noah Wyle using @FallingSkiesTNT. #fschat"

Those participating are executive producer Mark Verheiden, Sarah Sanguin Carter (Margaret), Drew Roy (Hal Mason), Colin Cunningham (John Pope) and Noah Wyle (Tom Mason). The hashtag for the event is #fschat, and fans who want to follow along easier can also use TweetChat to narrow down the hashtag for real-time updates. They can also start sending in questions to @FallingSkiesTNT already as they count down to the finale.

    • Recap and go inside1x8

      Inside the episode.....

      Spoiler anzeigen

‘Falling Skies’ Recap (Season 1, Episode 7): Meeting The Boss Alien
I like what Falling Skies has become. I also have to mourn that it’s on TNT and not on HBO, or AMC, or even SyFy. Its story has the high-concept science-fiction akin to Battlestar Galactica and it doesn’t use secrets as its narrative-crutch, something I’ll never forgive Lost for. It’s the best science fiction show on basic cable right now, which we need more of, and yet, it frequently feels constrained by the very network that is giving it its great exposure. It isn’t afraid to put kids in danger, it has creature design that would make Guillermo del Toro smile, and it has presented us with antagonists whose arrival on earth may not be entirely antagonistic in the first place. The basic cable restricts the characters and the dialog, keeping them from overcoming archetypes, and keeping a good show from becoming a fantastic show.

The desperate father. The brave son. The military man. The nurse. The con man. The bad girl. Religious mouthpiece. The characters pontificate as though the audience has flipped over from Law & Order: SVU reruns — Falling Skies needs to know that we’re brave enough to follow unpredictability in characters if it means we will be given unpredictability in stories. We’re in a post-Don Draper world. We can handle something more complex than a “college professor / father of three.”

Time is now running out. The skitters are regrouping in the center of Boston and the 2nd Mass. Inf. needs a new base of operations. It’s clear from the get-go that this is a Weaver-heavy episode. He’s not sleeping, he’s popping nondescript pills, he’s having flashbacks — he’s having very conveniently-timed hardships. What purpose will increasing his character’s background serve? Eh, the aging soldier doubting his place in everything is a tired schtick. Weaver is no Adama though. Weaver was a contractor before the attacks. Interested? Well, his rage-addled motivation means he’ll be coming along on Hal and Tom’s scouting mission. It also means we finally get to see the devastation in downtown Boston! The Battletower they’ve set up, which appears to be a bit south of the Beacon Hill / Boston Common area, if my geography serves, is anything but alien. Gigantic, yes, but built with earth resources and what might have been a human eye for architecture and design. Damn, the Cylons had more alien-looking crafts than these.

This is when we get a look at The Bosses. Gray, twelve feet tall, bipedal, and giving orders to the skitters. Nobody has ever seen them before. Who called this weeks ago? I did. Me. Somebody other than the skitters had to have been calling the shots.

Whoa, shit! Nina Sharp! Yes, ladies, and gents, and fans of Fringe, local insane Bostonian, and crazy red-headed lady, Sonya (Blair Brown), has joined the brawl! And she is crazy with a capital “Tea, anybody? Anybody for a cuppa tea?” The skitters had actually captured her for a while, yielding one good piece of information — the invaders don’t want us here. On earth. Mysterioso. Instead of staying and talking to her, Weaver goes all First Blood and runs home to Allston to grumble about things that a C.O. should not tell his troops if he wants to maintain any authority. Weak stuff, family stuff — they kill a mech. They’ve gotten good at killing mechs.

I like it when “mean” characters bond with “nice” characters, so Pope and youngest brother Matt hanging out yields semi-interesting dialog. They’re both annoyed with the folks they normally hang out with, so getting time to discuss their feelings and shit is a fun change of pace. Elsewhere, Ben’s creepy jump-roping suggests he’s burning energy faster, or maybe more efficiently, in his post-harnessed body. Things always get interesting and weird when they examine the harnessed kids, Ben in particular. Did the skitters give the kids strength so they’d be a better workforce, or is there something less obvious? Ricky-the-Possessed continues to be an eerie as hell, secret mouthpiece for the skitters, which Anne has chalked up to PTSD.

Who doesn’t enjoy a good old-fashioned alien autopsy? Handle your shit, Lourdes. She and Anne go digging around inside a dead skitter. Then the revelation that they swear they need to keep a secret: the skitter’s current body grew and quite literally formed around a harness. They might have potentially grown into their current form via forced evolution, a long-term result of the harness. Boom! Who called this one too? ¡Yo!

Returning to Sonya’s, Hal, Tom, and Weaver discover (as they should have earlier), learn that she has been giving up info to the local harnessed, who coincidentally turns out to be Hal’s old girlfriend… I want to say, Karen? Was her name Karen? More importantly, she’s hanging out with a Boss. Tall, gangly, Kaminoean-looking motherfuckers, especially up close. So are they the ones keeping the skitters up to their required capture quotas?

One last thing. Pope made a profound discovery. A mech bullet can be fired out of an old-school .45 caliber colt revolver. Human technology and skitter technology is more compatible than Mac and PC.

Season finale, two hours, next week — shit is primed and ready to go down

    • Falling Skies’ first season finale sets up big changes for season two

The season finale of Falling Skies is almost upon us, but the show’s producers and cast are already looking ahead to season two (and perhaps beyond). After all, they wrapped this first stellar season months ago, and they have been sitting back and getting as sucked into the characters’ struggles on-screen as we all are. Watching each week’s mini cliff-hanger has surely been harrowing, but the season finale cliff-hanger is quite a doozy!

“The Skitters aren’t just mindless automatons; the Skitters can deal, and we’ll be exploring that as we go forward,” series producer Mark Verheiden explained.

    • 'Falling Skies' Rises, Is TNT's Highest-Rated Show in Target Demos

After several weeks chugging along at a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating, TNT’s Falling Skies went up to a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating to go along with 4.3 million viewers (the most since the premiere). Even at a 1.4 rating it would’ve been TNT’s top show with adults 18-49, and it was also TNT’s top show with adults 25-54, ahead of both Rizzoli & Isles and The Closer in the week’s live plus same day DVR ratings.

With the show already renewed for a second season, focus on its current ratings aren’t very important. But the show many of you seem to love to hate is…TNT’s highest-rated show. *thumps*

Episode Synopsis: FALLING SKIES “Mutiny” season finale – As the 2nd Mass. prepares for a major assault, divisions within the ranks threaten to tear the group apart. Tom has difficulty processing the profound implications of Anne’s latest discovery.
      Falling Skies S01E09 Mutiny Spoilers

Ok we have searched high and low and there has been a pretty tight lid on what is due to happen in the 2 hour season finale of Falling Skies on Sunday 7th of August. We have managed to piece together a number of the details for the first hour of the season finale. This post contains a number of spoilers of what happens in Falling Skies s01e09 Mutiny.

Most of the 2nd Mass sit down to watch a movie and Anne takes this opportunity to show Tom what she found in the Skitter she dissected. Tom is understandably upset and angry and worried about what this might mean for Ben.

Weaver continues to act erratically and begins to shut Tom out of military planning and instead brings in Lt. Danner. Dai comes back to camp badly wounded and with orders from Colonel Porter. Only Weaver hears the orders before Dai passes out. Weaver tries to send Tom away on a scouting mission but Tom sends Maggie instead, as he is becoming more and more wary of Weaver. Tom is told by Anne and Lourdes that Weaver is on amphetamines, at his own request. Tom confronts Weaver about the drugs and Weaver calls in Lt. Danner and Jimmy to restrain Tom in the boiler room, as he’s being insubordinate.

Pope is making the Mech bullets and Uncle Scott searches for frequencies to block the Skitters communications. One of the frequencies causes Ben pain and he doesn’t tell Uncle Scott why. Ben talks with Ricky and he heard the frequency too and believes the Skitters are coming to save them. Ben tells Uncle Scott about the pain he felt and that he isn’t sure what he is anymore.

Weaver tells Pope to make 4 separate bombs for the impending attack on the structure in Boston.

Maggie and Hal return from the scouting mission to inform the 2nd Mass that the Skitter’s have blocked the roads. Jimmy helps Hal get Tom free. Dai wakes up and tells Tom that the 4th and 5th Mass may be dead and Porter’s unit were attacked and might be destroyed too. The orders were to abort the mission if the other Masses failed to show. Tom confronts Weaver and Pope makes his views known too. It’s put to a vote and some of the 2nd Mass decide to head out on the original mission, while Tom and some others stay behind to protect the civilians.

FALLING SKIES “Eight Hours” season finale – With Weaver leading several squads of fighters against the aliens, Tom remains behind to help protect the civilians as they evacuate. But a major breach in security endangers both the soldiers and the civilians. Tom is confronted with a decision that may lead him to discovering what the aliens want with the captured teenagers, humankind and the planet.
