Only two episodes into its freshman season, and HBO has already rewarded The Newsroom with a pickup. The Aaron Sorkin-created series, which stars Jeff Daniels, Sam Waterston and Emily Mortimer, debuted as the cable's third-best drama premiere ever, (behind Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones) with 2.1 million viewers.

True Blood, which will lose showrunner Alan Ball after this season, is down 1 million viewers year-to-year, but is still ranking as Sunday's highest-rated cable show as its fifth season rolls on.

The staple HBO vampire series, which stars Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgård, will still keep Ball on as executive producer, but Nurse Jackie's Mark Hudis will take over showrunner duties for season six.
